About the Mistbound Scribe

Well, hello there! I’m Michaela Fair—a ghostwriter drawn to transformative ideas, epic stories, and helping non-writers sound like the experts they truly are.

Just in the past two years, I’ve written five books and collaborated on more than a dozen others—each one shaped by a powerful story and a deep respect for the author’s voice. I believe great books live at the intersection of voice and storytelling, and after thousands of hours and hundreds of thousands of pages, I have a strong instinct for both.

Voice–the deliberate reflection of how an author wants to come across on the page–is like baking powder in a cookie recipe: if you add too little, your cookies turn out flat, but add too much, they have the wrong shape, even the wrong taste. Voice works the same way. When it’s off, the writing will either sound flat and boring at one extreme, or puffed up and melodramatic at the other. But there’s a key to capturing an author’s voice on the page, and it comes from observing, learning, and documenting an author’s unique communication style. It isn’t just about sense of humor or vocabulary, it’s about facial expressions, speech patterns, body language, and more.

That’s why I often hear after delivering a draft, “It’s like you’re in my head!”

Storytelling is my second specialty. As a devourer of fantasy, historical fiction, sci-fi, and contemporary satire, I understand the power of connecting with the reader’s emotions and experiences. My job as a storyteller is to bridge your ideas with your audience’s pain, joy, curiosity, and passion.

Creativity is my default mode. When solving problems, I gravitate toward fresh and innovative solutions, rather than settling for the most obvious ones. I avoid “overused” or “mainstream” stories, and instead, hunt for a fitting story that is unique and impactful. (Not always easy, but so worth it!)

If a crafted voice and top-tier storytelling are equally important to you as an author, I’m your gal!

And a bit about me:

  1. With nearly a decade-long background in leadership and management, you can count on me to communicate promptly, meet deadlines without stress, and bring organization to even the most ambitious book projects.

  2. I value quality over quantity—no filler, no fluff. Just meaningful, well-structured content that serves both your reader and your message.

  3. I’m available Monday through Friday unless stated otherwise and will usually respond to an email within 4 hours (24 hours max).

Lastly, I am a massive consumer of both coffee and tea (for the flavor, not just the caffeine); I am a mom of a four-year-old who sometimes makes me think he’s the more creative between the two of us; and I am a wife to a man who reminds me daily that God is in control, and my number #1 job–no matter the project–is to love people well.

I look forward to creating something powerful together!
